What does that mean?
To me, educating is as much of an art as performance. And vocal education is a collaboration between myself and the singer. It is an understatement to say that every singer is coming from a different place because not only does every vocalist have differing levels of experience, natural ability, and aspiration, but every singer experiences life differently inside their instrument. Every part of your life shows up in your body, and as your voice is the expression of that experience physically, culturally, musically, creatively, emotionally, I cannot teach any two people the same way.
I have studied the voice. I have a solid understanding of the physical mechanics necessary for particular sounds, as well as the the exercises necessary to attain your goals. I have performed many varying styles of music and understand the beautiful differences between them. I have also lived the artist’s life and felt the struggle of finding my place in the industry and learned that ultimately, self acceptance is queen. And I know that you are vastly different from me. When we work together, I will begin a professional relationship with you wherein I view your success as my success, whether you be a professional mid-career singer, someone looking for a hobby-like outlet, or a high school student going through a voice change. My students book the number of sessions that work best for them. For some, it is 3-5 times a week, for others once every few months: for most, it’s weekly. If you are dedicated to your progress, I will be right there with you, answering mid-week emails for feedback between lessons and sending further ideas. I will be in your corner, helping you to succeed as you define success. Let’s get started.

It’s hard to put into words just how much Rachel has helped me on my voice journey. A little over a year ago, I came to her as a total beginner eager to learn but consumed by anxiety over singing. I had tried voice lessons in the past but quit after just two fear-filled sessions. I was afraid to even sing in the shower. But from the moment I met Rachel, her patience, kindness, and humor kept me grounded and engaged throughout the process of discovering and building my voice. She has stuck with me through frustrations and discomfort, embraced my quirks and questions, encouraged me to holistically explore my instrument and myself, and has been my biggest cheerleader through every breakthrough big or small. Her well of knowledge of the voice seems endless; she is a gifted, empathetic listener who recognizes any hang-ups before I’m even aware there is a particular problem to be addressed. And her own artistry and humanity are inspiring. She understands just how precious and personal the voice is and joyously encourages her students to find and follow their own artistic impulses. I am blown away by how much progress I have made over the past year or so, and I am giddy with excitement thinking of where I might be in another year, few years, and more with Rachel as my guide.

Been going to Rachel for about 2 years now. Came in knowing nothing at all about singing. Put in lots of work and hours towards practice with Rachel. Have been releasing songs ever since! She's an awesome person and teacher. Easy and fun to work with!

Wow is all I can say about Rachel! I’m a new singer and I was very nervous about the process of learning how to sing and even being confident enough to show up fully in my lessons because I am a new singer, but Rachel made me feel so comfortable and accepted. She will definitely cheer you on the entire way, give you amazing exercises, tips, and knowledge to develop your voice, she pays attention to detail and will help you correct your voice to get it to where you want it, and she’s also hilarious. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher during this journey.

Taking lessons with Rachel has been incredibly rewarding! I feel like I'm growing every time I work with her, and I'm finding new joy in my voice that I never even imagined. I've worked with her in person and remotely over Zoom, and she is always prepared, professional and helpful. In the process of working with me, she's been able to hone in on exactly the type of training and work I need for what I'm interested in. Our sessions are the highlight of my week!
I could go on, but the bottom line is that this is the place to be if you want to improve your voice in a way that is both effective and enjoyable.
